Vision for the Role: The Concessions Clerk supports camp operations by providing friendly, efficient service to campers and guests through the sale of food, snacks, and beverages at camp concession locations.

The Role:

  • Greet campers and guests in a friendly and professional manner and assist with concession purchases.
  • Operate a cash register or point-of-sale system accurately, including handling cash, credit, or other approved payment methods.
  • Process sales transactions, make correct change, and follow established cash-handling and reconciliation procedures.
  • Serve pre-packaged food items, snacks, and beverages in accordance with food safety and hygiene guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of concession areas, including counters, displays, and food storage areas.
  • Restock concession items and monitor inventory levels, notifying supervision of supply needs or shortages.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen-awareness practices applicable to concession operations.
  • Communicate equipment issues, product shortages, or customer concerns to supervision promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow staff to support smooth concession operations during peak periods.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism, hospitality, and courtesy during all guest interactions.

Required
  • Ability to interact positively with campers, guests, and staff in a customer-facing environment.
  • Willingness to follow procedures related to food safety, cash handling, and customer service.
  • Basic math skills sufficient to handle sales transactions and make change accurately.
  • Ability to work a seasonal schedule, including evenings, weekends, and peak camp hours.
Preferred
  • Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or institutional dining (not required).
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience working with large groups or high-volume meal service.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move for extended periods while working in a kitchen and dining environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate kitchen equipment safely.
  • Visual and auditory ability sufficient to follow instructions, read labels, and communicate with staff.
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to heat, steam, cold storage areas, noise, and typical commercial kitchen conditions.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions of the job.
  • Live and work in extreme weather conditions, at high altitude, and in small living quarters.
