Vision for the Role: The Lead Mechanic at Hume Lake, is responsible for ensuring our camp’s vehicles and equipment are well-maintained and ready for action. This individual will perform repairs, conduct regular maintenance, manage parts inventory, and maintain service records. The mechanic's expertise will directly support our mission of creating life-changing experiences for campers and staff.

The Role: 

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, buses, trucks, heavy machinery, and small engines. 
  • Operate diagnostic tools and perform necessary repairs. 
  • Manage inventory, order parts and supplies, and maintain service records. 
  • Train staff on vehicle operation and safety as needed. 
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment. 
  • Work with vendors and contractors to support camp operations. 
  • Be flexible and ready to assist with other camp needs as required. 

Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • Evidenced commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Gospel with others. 
  • Must agree with Hume Lake’s Statement of Belief and be willing to abide by Hume Lake’s Code of Conduct.
  • Must be able to live in available Hume Lake housing or provide private accommodations 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in vehicle and equipment repair. 
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, parts books, and work orders. 
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management. 
  • A proactive, responsible, and team-oriented individual who leads with integrity and sound judgment. 
  • A heart for ministry and a willingness to care for the spiritual needs of guests and staff. 
  • Experience in working with: 
    • Hydraulics 
    • Gas and diesel fuel systems 
    • Brakes, clutch, and suspension 
    • Automotive electrical systems 

Physical Requirements:  

  • The staff member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • Must have physical stamina to stand, bend, stoop, squat, twist and reach for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be able to live and work in extreme weather conditions and at a high altitude.

Salary: $16.50-20.00
