We are looking for a motivated and organized Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support our HR functions and ensure a positive experience for all camp staff. The HR Generalist will assist with recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. Ideal for someone who is passionate about Christian ministry and has a heart for serving others through their HR expertise.

The Role:

  • HR Operations: Maintain and support the HRIS processes with speed and accuracy in partnership with the HR Manager. Manage day-to-day HR operations, including data entry, file maintenance, and reporting. 
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks. Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation and training. 
  • Employee Relations: Provide support to staff by addressing HR-related inquiries, resolving staff issues, and promoting a positive work environment in line with Christian values. 
  • Benefits Administration: Assist with the administration of staff benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management. Respond to employee questions regarding benefits. 
  • HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information. 
  • Performance Management: Support the performance review process by tracking timelines, gathering feedback, and assisting managers with performance evaluations. 
  • Training & Development: Coordinate training sessions and professional development opportunities for staff. Ensure that training aligns with the camp’s mission and values. 
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and communication of HR policies and procedures. Ensure that staff members understand and adhere to these guidelines. 
  • Health & Safety: Collaborate with the camp’s leadership team to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Assist with the implementation of safety protocols and training. 
 

Our ideal candidate:

  • Evidenced commitment to the Christian faith and a desire to share the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
  • Active SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred, but not required. 
  • 2-4 years in a church, faith-based ministry or Christian camp.
  • Strong understanding of HR practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a diverse team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive situations, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Desires to conduct all HR activities with a Biblical perspective.
  • Is a strong project manager who loves to serve people and is collaborative and loves to meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office Suite, and database management.
  • Living on-site is not required but it is preferred to live on-site with housing provided and available from Hume Lake.
  • Able to agree with our Statement of Belief and abide by the Standard of Conduct.

Salary: $50,000-$65,000/year
