Vision for the Role: The Aquatics Assistant Coordinator will assist the Aquatics Coordinator in the daily management of the pools, training lifeguards, keeping up to date on aquatics best practices, while ensuring safety and a great work environment for the Aquatics and Activities team.

The Role:
- Assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the Aquatic facilities and equipment, such as the pools and boats.
- Help train lifeguards through pre-season training and ongoing In-Service Training.
- Work closely with the Aquatics Coordinator in safety checks, summer preparation, serving guests, and pool operations.
- Uphold high standards of safety, training, and customer service.
- Communicate operational needs with the Activities leadership in a timely manner.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Aquatics Coordinator or Activities Supervisor.
- Evidenced commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Gospel with others.
- Must agree with Hume Lake’s Statement of Belief and be willing to abide by Hume Lake’s Code of Conduct.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard, or Lifeguard Instructor Certification, or ability to obtain those certifications. Hume can provide if needed.
- Experience: Lifeguarding and team management, particularly in a camp setting.
- Mindset: willing to pursue personal and professional growth while working under the Aquatics Coordinator.
- Physical Ability: be able to demonstrate lifeguard skills and knowledge to Hume Lake Activities’ standards. Able to lift heavy objects, work outdoors, and perform physically demanding work.
- Collaboration: proven ability to work well with diverse teams in quick paced environments,
- Additional Skills: strong observation, listening, and communication skills.
- Organization: ability to maintain organization while juggling several different tasks.
- Pool chemical and operations knowledge is a plus.
- Experience in Challenge Course facilitation (Low/High Ropes, Zip Lines, Climbing).
- Working knowledge of paintball, archery, or skate park operation.
- Prior experience in youth camps, adventure ministry, or outdoor education.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- ACCT Level 2 certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; maybe on uneven or rugged terrain.
- Must be able to live and work in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to live at high altitude and in small living quarters.
